The new WA Health System Medical Practitioners Agreement 2024 - 2026 guarantees remuneration for this Clinical Director post as the following:
- Current: Up to $508k + oncall, recall etc.
- From Sep 2025: Up to $524k + oncall, recall etc.
- From Sep 2026: Up to $544k + oncall, recall etc.
Package includes:
- Base salary and private practice allowance.
- Professional development allowance - paid to you along with salary.
- Head of Department Allowance.
- Employer paid superannuation.
- Work visa and permanent residency support.
Figures above do not include oncall, recall and penalty shift allowances.
This position is responsible for delivering clinical assessment and psychiatric treatment to children, adolescents, and youth within a community setting. The role involves providing clinical leadership, advice, and consultation to general practitioners, healthcare professionals, service providers, agencies, carers, and consumers across the region.
This position offers the opportunity to lead the regional implementation of the Infant, Child, and Adolescent Taskforce recommendations while providing clinical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include chairing the CAMHS team's clinical review process, ensuring adherence to the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Chief Psychiatrist and general practitioners, is essential to delivering seamless, coordinated care.
Additional responsibilities include representing the service in healthcare planning forums and advocating for the mental health needs of the community. The role also involves leading clinical teaching initiatives, mentoring mental health staff, and supporting general practitioners within a shared care model. Active participation in quality improvement projects and professional development activities is integral to this position.
The role is part of a collaborative team of consultant psychiatrists and registrars, fostering a supportive environment that promotes shared expertise and collective problem-solving. This public health service provides services adjacent to Perth’s metropolitan boundaries extending North and East into parts of WA. The mental health service provides care to a broad range of the population. Clinical programs include Adult Mental Health (18-65yrs), CAMHS (0-18yrs), Older Age Mental Health (5yrs+) and a Youth service (15-24yrs). The service also includes an Aboriginal Mental Health Program (all ages).
There is a mental health MDT which includes psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, CAMHS professionals, community mental health nurses and Aboriginal liaison staff. These teams are locally based and based in the 4 main towns in the region. The local population tends to access more complex, higher acuity services from the metropolitan hospitals in Perth.

- FRANZCP or equivalent.
- Ability to provide clinical leadership to consultant psychiatrists and a MDT.

- Ability to foster, develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships.
