NEW PERTH WAGE AGREEMENT HAS BEEN RATIFIED

We are pleased to be recruiting this consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist (Inpatient) for a major service in Perth, Western Australia,  Australia.

 

There is a new wage agreement now in place for consultant psychiatrists working in Perth. 

 

  • Up to September 2025, the package for Consultants with 9yrs or over consultant experience is $480k excluding oncall, recall etc.

 

  • Between September 2025 and September 2026, the package for Consultants with 9yrs or over consultant experience will be $515k excluding oncall, recall etc.

 

  • After September 2026, the package for Consultants with 9yrs or over consultant experience will be $532k excluding oncall, recall etc.

 

 

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Perth, Western Australia offers support, advice and treatment to young people and their families who are experiencing mental health issues. Children and families are referred to Mental Health by their treating therapist, specialist, GP, School or other community organisation.  The service provides recovery-focused programs, and services for children from birth up until a person turns 18 years old. CAMHS has the following 3 key program areas: Acute, Community and Specialised which includes eating disorders.

 

 

Inpatient service

The Ward is a 20 bed tier-4 State-Wide Service offering inpatient mental health care for kids up to 16 years old. There is a comprehensive and talented Multidisciplinary team with a great team of junior doctors to support you. Currently 3 consultant psychiatrists work in this setting.

 

 

You will play a pivotal role in delivering diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Psychiatry. Your contributions will extend to teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities within the inpatient unit. This is a unique chance to be part of a dynamic team, shaping the future of mental health care for children and adolescents.

 

 

 Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide high-quality clinical management and treatment to patients at the inpatient unit.
  • Uphold and elevate professional standards while fostering an academic environment that supports education, research, and professional development.
  • Actively contribute to teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Selection criteria

 

  • FRANZCP or progress towards FRANZCP (w. Certificate of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry)or equivalent qualifications gained in either NZ, UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, South Africa.
  • Expertise in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, especially inpatient settings.
  • Experience in providing clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective, interpersonal and communication skills in a multidisciplinary environment. 
  • Knowledge and expertise in undertaking individual therapy and family systems interventions.
  • Interests and involvement in quality improvement processes and in the maintenance of professional standards. 
  • Experience in education, training and supervision of undergraduate medical and other related professionals.
