Sydney is a world-class city which needs little introduction. The state government of NSW operates the state’s public health system of which the city’s population of over 5million people is the greatest user. The city was founded on arguably the world’s most beautiful natural harbour and has expanded into a rich variety of city-villages, developing a major financial district and a driver of the national economy with a population which reflects the country’s growing multicultural dynamic. 

 

 

Northern Sydney is one of the city’s major health services. There are a number of mental health services sitting under it and this Clinical Director position is with one of the larger providers of mental health care in the city. 

 

As Clinical Director Adult you will work in collaboration with the service’s Director to lead, develop and maintain the highest levels of quality and safety. You will have responsibility for clinical governance of the service, including quality and safety as well as being responsible for the medical workforce including recruitment, retention and leadership of the medical workforce in the mental health service. 

 

The expectation is you will do 0.5 FTE in clinical care covering leave, gaps or doing clinics. The clinical work would be in discussion with the Director targeting the ongoing needs of the mental health service. 

 

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Meeting clinical KPIs are met.
  • Promoting research projects. 
  • Collaborate with the Director on leading, developing and implementing clinical service plans and models of care. 
  • Ensure your staff are encouraged to maximise professional development opportunities.
  • Providing clinical leadership to ensure first class delivery of clinical care across a broad spectrum of settings - inpatient, community, hospital consultation-liaison, ECT, data collection, medical administration and clinical documentation, legislative adherence and so on. 

 

The expected remuneration will be commensurate with your experience and qualifications up to $450k. 

 

Selection criteria

  • FRANZCP.
  • Significant clinical director experience of a public mental health service. 
  • Experience and understanding of performance strategies within health service. 
  • Experience with working with primary care colleagues, patients and carers and understanding of recovery and care coordination models of care. 
  • Teaching experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical governance activities.
