This mental health service is headed up by a progressive and dynamic clinical director. It provides innovative and patient-centred care with a commitment to recovery-orientated practices, holistic care with forward thinking and contemporary models which deliver compassionate , high quality servies.
Community services
There are 4 community based hubs in the mental health service. There are mental health teams in the community hubs and they are made up of psychologists, social workers, mental health nurses and OT. Clinicians from HQ visit and work from the regional hubs on a daily basis. The teams also support high prevalence presentations in the primary care sector and support the capacity of GPs. The community based mental health services include an adult mhs continuing care, access mental health team, old age MHS, CAMHS, autism spectrum disorder assessment and coordination, a perinatal program and an early intervention and dual diagnosis team.
Inpatient
All the services bed-based services are located at HQ where there is a 15 bed unit which includes 4 high dependency beds, a 5 bed extended care inpatient unit, a 13 bed PARC .The HQ also houses aged persons mhs, CAMHS, multidisciplinary teams, assocated leadership and amin services.
The job
You will play an important role in the provision of mental health clinical services to consumers across the breadth of this mental health services including acute inpatient psychiatric treatment unit, the PARC and community based mental health services. Participation in initiatives aimed at early intervention, aboriginal health as well as remote and rural service delivery will form part of your primary responsibilities.
As a member of the mdt you will offer primary clinical assessment and treatment, provide secondary consultation, guidance and advice to colleagues and other professionals, deliver and develop best clinical practice standards, participate in ECT and oncall roster, participate in the education of more junior colleagues (under and post grad) and other interested stakeholders.
Selection criteria
- FRANZCP or equivalent qualification.
- Applicants trained in the UK (CCT) after 2007 will be highly regarded to satisfy ESP requirements.
- Proven expertise in adult psychiatric care, adept in both medical and psychiatric assessments and treatment.
- Well developed team skills with evidenced ability to work well within multi-disciplinary settings.
- Ability to manage clinical responsibilities in diverse service settings.
- Strong commitment to teaching and providing supervision within the service.
- Flexibility to work across multiple sites.
