Opportunity highlights
- The medicine here is truly interesting with a significant amount of chronic disease with tropical medicine and interesting autoimmune disorders. You can see snake bites, acute rheumatic fever, melioidosis as well as your usual strokes, myocardial infarctions and COPD exacerbations.
- You will be practicing un-selected general medicine. There is sub-specialty advice from Darwin as needed but it really allows you to use all your general medical skills in a resource limited setting but with access to lots of support if needed.
- The work is a combination of acute inpatient work, outpatient work and outreach work collaborating with partners in Aboriginal controlled health services.
- The population served is generally a young demographic with low or no bed block.
- This job provides an opportunity for an immersive cultural experience working with Aboriginal Australian patients with preserved language and culture. The hospital and health service pride themselves on their engagement with patients and their culturally safe practice.
- Consultants will do outreach work to very remote communities where you'll travel by car or small plane throughout the beautiful sub-tropical landscape of the outback. This is a unique experience which would allow you to see far more of this beautiful region and also helps you engage with patients and primary care colleagues.

- FRACP or equivalent gained in either NZ, UK, Ireland, USA, South Africa or Canada.
