This is a fantastic chance to secure a full time post in Sydney's Western suburbs.
The Western Suburbs of Sydney are the most culturally diverse in Australia. Amenities are first class - waterways, parklands, national parks, the olympic facilities, major shopping centres, professional football stadiums, cricket ovals, league and union pitches, universities, private schools and major hospitals. As the city has grown, wealth has spread from the eastern to the western suburbs. Major corporations and other employers have followed this wealth and demographic shift by relocating their corporate HQs, to the western suburbs, helping to build the CBD of Parramatta.
This is a permanent position and you'll spend half your allocated time at Nepean Hospital in Penrith and the other half of your allocated time either at Blue Mountains or Hawkesbury Hospitals.
You will have opportunities for professional growth, including working in a tertiary referral Maternity Unit and gaining exposure to subspecialty services such as Maternal Fetal Medicine, robotic surgery, and complex obstetrics and gynaecology - depending on your interests. Additionally, you'll enjoy the advantages of working in a smaller regional site, which offers a balanced mix of metropolitan and regional practice challenges.
Successful candidates will be responsible for providing expert medical assessment and management of patients within the O&G departments. You will also be required to participate fully in the on-call roster, which may involve one or two sites, as needed.
Selection criteria
You will have FRANZCOG or equivalent. UK trained applicants eligible to apply under the expedited specialist pathway will be highly regarded.
Candidates should demonstrate sound clinical knowledge in Obstetrics & Gynaecology through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the position's requirements, including participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty. High-level interpersonal and communication skills are required, as well as demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
A demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards is essential. Applicants should exhibit skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner, including modeling a high standard of professional behavior to junior medical staff.
Familiarity with research concepts and a commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research.
