This mental health service will soon be opening a brand new, bespoke 10 bed sub-acute older persons unit.
The service provides care in a beautiful region of Queensland and has developed sophisticated models of care which are consistent with both national Australian standards and which are also responsive to the needs of this community. Emphasis is put on collaborative, multidisciplinary care and a culture of best practice which is inclusive of families and carers , with a strong focus on relapse prevention. The mental health service also provides inpatient services which are supported by a 20 bed community care unit, a 10 bed step up step down sub-acute unit. Additional community mhs are provided throughout the region.
Job highlights include but are not limited to:
- Provide comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment and treatment of older adults with complex mental health conditions in a range of settings including acute inpatient and community mental health.
- Supervise, assess, and teach undergrad and postgrad junior doctors, as well as registrars and advanced trainees.
- Use a patient centred and team based model of care.
- Participate in service development, utilisation and effectiveness.
- Participate in clinical governance initiatives.
- Ensure your own professional development is maintained whilst act as an advocate for the ongoing professional development of junior colleagues.

- Base salary $182k - $267k.
- Plus 50% allowance $91k - $133.5k

Selection criteria includes but is not limited to
- FRANZCP or equivalent. Advanced cert of old psychiatrist or specialist quals in such would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in older persons psychiatry across a range of settings such as hospital, community and telehealth.
- A collaborative approach to your work .
- First class communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in undergrad and postgraduate teaching.
