We are looking for an adventurous Obstetrician and Gynaecologist looking for a rewarding opportunity in a dynamic regional health setting in Western Australia. 

The Kalgoorlie Health Campus in Western Australia has an exciting opening for a motivated Obs & Gyn. You’ll provide specialist clinical care to patients in Kalgoorlie and the surrounding regions, including Esperance on the South Coast. The department has 600 deliveries, 3 gynae lists, 5 gynae clinics, 3 consultant provided ANCs.  Staffing includes: 1 Intern, 3 service registrars, 3 GPOs and 1 GPO registrar, 3 consultants( 2 permanent and 1 locum).

Job scope includes but is not limited to:

  • Liaise with other senior medical staff in the campus and regionally, with allied health staff and hospital managers to facilitate a high standard of patient care. 
  • Negotiates with patient transport  e.g. Royal Flying Doctor Service to facilitate patient transfer for tertiary care. 
  • Collaborate with two other specialists and three registrars, while also benefiting from the support of three GPOs on the on-call roster.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to lead and shape the future of maternity care in the region, working collaboratively with the Clinical Nurse Specialist to ensure excellence in both clinical performance and policy development. You’ll also have a say in clinical governance, helping to develop and review policies that ensure top-quality patient care.
  • Play an active role in teaching students from the Rural Clinical School in our accredited training site for CWH, basic, and the advanced Diploma RANZCOG.
  • Engage in policy development and promote clinical governance, working in a collaborative environment to improve patient care.
  • Promote professional development to your colleagues and ensure your own is kept up to date. 
  • In collaboration with GPsr and Specialist Obstetricians, Midwifery and 
  • Surgical nursing staff, help in the management of the Midwifery Medical Department 
  • including equipment choice, staffing proposals and workplace redesign. 


Selection criteria

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • FRANZCOG or an equivalent qualification gained overseas. Overseas applicants must have begun AMC/EPIC verification.
  • Proven experience working as a specialist in General Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • Capability to provide services in the area of Family Planning.
  • Up-to-date understanding of current issues and developments within Obstetrics and Gynaecology healthcare.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • A demonstrated dedication to upholding clinical governance standards in healthcare.
  • Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, a valid C or C-A Class driver’s licence.
