Job scope  

The Executive Director, Medical Services will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a 10-year vision and strategy for this Queensland Hospital and Health Service. This exciting strategy will guide the future development of clinical services across the service. You will provide expert medical leadership and strategic advice to the executive group and board throughout the strategy's development and implementation.  

Part of the key to your success will be your ability to forge strong clinical partnerships with other health services, the state government, private hospitals, General Practitioners and other primary care professionals, NGOs and community representatives throughout Central Queensland.  

You will also provide professional leadership to medical staff across all the health service's business units, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based medical services. You'll lead and support medical workforce via three Director Medical Services positions based in the region.  As befitting a senior medical administrative position, you will uphold the highest professional and ethical standards among medical teams, fostering a culture of excellence in clinical practice.  

Medical workforce engagement will be a priority, driving workforce morale and engagement to support the successful implementation of the 10-year strategy. Clinical leadership will ensure all services are contemporary, patient-centered, and aligned with best practices.  

Selection criteria

•  An MBBS or equivalent qualification enabling registration with AHPRA.
• Fellowship with an Australian Medical Specialist College.
• Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
• Ongoing participation in a professional development program.
• Applicants who also hold FRACMA will be highly considered. 
• Ability to work 0.2 FTE within your own recognised specialty.
